i want you to know how i make money here, because you should be able to read anything i write and know exactly what’s behind it.

affiliate links

some posts on this site contain affiliate links. if you click one and buy something, i may earn a small commission. it costs you nothing extra. i use affiliate links with brands whose products i’ve used, researched, or would recommend to a client or a friend. a commission never buys a spot on a list and never changes what i say about a product.

gifted products

sometimes a brand sends me something for free. when that happens, i say so on the post or the product itself. being gifted something doesn’t obligate me to write about it, and it doesn’t obligate me to like it.

sponsored content

occasionally a brand pays me to create something. that content is labeled as sponsored or as an ad, every time, without exception. i turn down more of these than i accept, and i don’t take them from brands i wouldn’t use myself.

what i won’t do

i don’t write positive reviews in exchange for payment. i don’t recommend products i think are unsafe or poorly made. i don’t take partnerships from companies whose values run against the work i do.

about the clinical part

i’m a licensed marriage and family therapist in california and new york. nothing on this site is therapy, and reading it doesn’t make you my client. product recommendations here are educational and general, not clinical advice for your specific body, relationship, or situation. if you’re working with a provider, talk to them about what’s right for you.

questions

if you ever want to know whether something on this site was paid, gifted, or bought with my own money, email me and i’ll tell you.
